The New Kids on the Block
While a relative newcomer to the world of water softening control valves, Clack has been a pioneer. Their entry into this market came after extensive market research, talking to the water treatment specialists who are working on these valves day-in and day-out. In fact, their first valve, the WS1, was made without any screws because technicians in Florida and other areas in the South complained about losing screws in the grass at outdoor installations.
MAV Twin System
Just about a decade ago, Clack introduced its twin system using a MAV (motorized alternating valve, seen at right). It was a bit of a clunky system, but it accomplished its goal: providing continuous soft water while utilizng the reliable Clack WS1 platform. Since that time, one thing hasn’t changed — the reliability and performance of the Clack valve. But Clack continued to develop, and in that time came out with a new, improved version of its twin system, which features just one control valve and a set of cross connections — a la the Fleck 9000 series.
WS1 EE Twin
Not surprisingly, Clack has been leading the way in innovation for years. This extremely efficient design allows for optimum regeneration and cleaning ability. Consistent with other Clack control valves, it features a coin cell battery back-up with 8-hour carryover; versatile plumbing connections (and sizes); and the optionality of providing either upflow or downflow regeneration.
Other key features for the WS1 EE Twin valve include:
- Service flow 28 gpm, backwash flow 15 gpm with meter and bypass installed
- Solid state microprocessor with easy access front panel settings
- Front panel display for time of day, days until next regeneration, volume remaining, current flow rate and total volume used (Totalizer) and tank in service indication
- Four methods to initiate regeneration–meter immediate, meter delayed, time clock delayed or pressure differential
- Adjustable cycle times
